Interschool Chess Tournament

July 23, 2008

On Tuesday 22 of July 35 students from Bellaire represented the school in an Interschool Chess Tournament. The tournament was held at Torquay Primary School and Bellaire had 7 teams competing. This was a brilliant experience for the students as they used tournament style sets and digital timers and competed with numerous schools from around the region.

The competition was extremely tough and the Bellaire competitors were extremely professional and well behaved. The students demonstrated their skill and tactics and achieved some great results. Leon was ranked 7th overall based on individual scores. Bellaire team #4 came 4^th overall and will be competing in the State Finals in September. This team consisted of Fraser, Rowan, Byron , Ashleigh and Katelyn.

The students should be extremely proud of all of their performances and we will now look forward to refining our skills for next year’s tournament and the upcoming state finals for the qualified team.
