On Friday the 15th and Friday the 22nd of August, students from the Bellaire Prep Unit ventured out to some of the local shops. The students were lucky enough to be shown around Bakers Delight, Harvey’s Fruit Shop and the Highton Post Office. At Bakers Delight the students made their own finger buns and learnt about how bread is produced. At the fruit shop they got to sample some yummy fruit and learnt about different fruits and vegetables. At the post office the students learnt about stamps, post office boxes and the mailing process. These walks were a great opportunity for the students to get out and into their community and to see how various businesses are run. We thank the staff at Bakers Delight, Harvey’s and the Post Office for having us and teaching us about their workplaces.
